Extracts & Concentrates
With beer, malt extract can be used to avoid having to mash the grains and extract the sugar. Your choice of hops can be boiled up with the extract in a type of brewing referred to as 'Partial Mash'. You can also use it to strengthen or enhance a beer.
For wine, concentrates can be used to enhance body and flavour (and also help to boost alcohol). White wine concentrate for example, is good in elderflower wine, to give a more wine like texture.
